This workshop is organised for the 5th time in response to the favourable feedback in 2019, and is also developed as a follow0up to our popular Workshop on Geology of Singapore. It aims to provide a link between the knowledge of geology and its engineering applications in underground construction and rock cavern space development. The fourth run of the Symposium on Innovation and Challenges in Asian Tunnelling (SICAT) is organised together with industry partners from China, Japan and Korea. It aims to share valuable experiences gained from recent underground infrastructure projects across the 4 countries

Underground Singapore 2023 is the eleventh in a series of successful conferences held since 2001. The purpose of the Conference is to provide a forum to share and discuss issues relevant to the planning, design and construction of underground projects in Singapore and the region. The aim is for contractors, engineers, owners and researchers to come together and contribute their experiences. Over 30 technical papers have been accepted and they will be presenting their research and findings at the 2 day conference.

The purpose of this short course is to provide a comprehensive background to certain contemporary practices in design and construction of tunnels and underground structures.

Recent advancements in the design and construction of steel-concrete composite structural steels have transformed the building and infrastructural work. It is important for researchers and practitioners to stay abrest of these developments in view of the huge opportunities presented in infrastructure construction in Singapore and the Asia Pacific Region. Steel and composite construction is often adopted in high-rise buildings, large span structures and infrastructural work due to their high structural efficiency with respect to high strength-to-weight ratio as well as their robustness against instability and accidental loads.

This International Symposium serves as a platform for renowned researchers and engineers to disseminate their new findings on advanced design and construction technology of steel and composite structures.
